Borussia Dortmund ended their newly acquired drawing habit with a 2-0 home win against FC St Pauli.
Jürgen Klopp's men had drawn three of their last four league matches before the visit of the team from Hamburg, but efforts either side of the break from Lucas Barrios (39) − his tenth top-flight strike of the season − and Ralph Gunesch's own goal (49) took Dortmund 13 points clear of FC Bayern München and Bayer 04 Leverkusen, who host struggling VfB Stüttgart on Sunday.
Bastian Schweinsteiger (9), Thomas Müller (50) and Mario Gomez (77) earned Bayern a 3-1 win against 1. FSV Manz 05, while fourth-placed Hannover 96 also hit three in overcoming 1. FC Kaiserslautern 3-0 with strikes from Jan Schlaudraff (17, 57) and Mohammed Abdellaoue.
Hamburger SV fared even better, humbling SV Werder Bremen 4-0. Mladen Petrić's second goal in three matches set them on their way before José Paolo Guerrero (64, 79) and substitute Änis Ben-Hatira (87) completed a resounding triumph. HSV are up to seventh, a point behind SC Freiburg − who prevailed 2-1 against lowly VfL Wolfsburg − while TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and 1. FC Köln drew 1-1.
