Leverkusen denied by Bremen at the death

SV Werder Bremen struck in added time to hold second-placed Bayer 04 Leverkusen to a 2-2 draw, while struggling VfB Stuttgart moved closer to safety with victory at Eintracht Frankfurt.

Bayer 04 Leverkusen are 12 points behind Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund after drawing 2-2 away against struggling SV Werder Bremen.

Dortmund underlined their dominance of the division with a 3-1 win at champions FC Bayern München on Saturday, and now look even more assured at the top. Eren Derdiyok got the ball rolling for the Werkself three minutes before the break and Simon Rolfes (67) then doubled their advantage, before a Stefan Kiessling own goal (82) and Sebastian Prödl's 91st-minute strike completed Bremen's comeback.

Also on Sunday, VfB Stuttgart bounced back from their UEFA Europa League exit on Thursday by prevailing 2-0 at Eintracht Frankfurt. Second bottom in the standings, the visitors made light of Matthieu Delpierre's 15th-minute dismissal to move closer to safety via goals from Martin Harnik (64) and Tamás Hajnal (68).
