1. FSV Mainz 05 have hauled themselves back up to fourth spot in the Bundesliga after putting together a 4-2 success away against Hamburger SV.
The hosts were looking to move level on 40 points with their opponents and twice took the lead, with Marcell Jansen (17) opening the scoring and Mladen Petrić (59) restoring their advantage shortly after Dennis Aogo (56) had turned into his own net. Mainz levelled again courtesy of a Gojko Kačar own goal just two minutes later, though, before André Schürrle (82) and Florian Heller (88) lifted the visitors above FC Bayern München and to within four points of a UEFA Champions League qualifying berth.
Also on Sunday, SV Werder Bremen were able to celebrate their first victory in seven league outings thanks to a 3-1 win at SC Freiburg. Claudio Pizarro (76) and Marko Marin (90+2) struck in the closing stages to lift the visitors out of the relegation zone and up to 14th.
