FC Bayern München have agreed the signing of Germany goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, who will sign a contract until 2016.
The 25-year-old's move to Munich ends a long association with FC Schalke 04, with whom he won the German Cup in his last match thanks to a 5-0 victory against MSV Duisburg on 21 May. "I'm very pleased about the great and exciting challenge at Bayern," said Neuer. "A lot of colleagues in the national team will be my team-mates so I won't break completely new ground and I'll definitely adopt fast."
Bayern have paid a reported €18m for Neuer – with a further €7m dependent on the club's success during his stay. Neuer will fly to Vienna on Thursday with the rest of the Germany team ahead of the UEFA EURO 2012 qualifier against Austria on Friday night before heading to Munich for a medical and to complete the deal.
Part of the Schalke team who reached the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, Neuer will replace Hans-Jörg Butt as Bayern's No1 with his new club set to enter next season's competition in the play-off round after finishing third in the Bundesliga.
