Germany midfielder Mario Götze is set to spend the next six weeks on the sidelines after being diagnosed with a pubic bone problem.
The 19-year-old's club, Borussia Dortmund, said they had rested Götze for Sunday's 5-1 win at Hamburger SV as a precautionary measure. However, the German champions have now revealed that the player is suffering from a pubic bone injury, with doctors ordering two weeks of total rest to be followed by four to six weeks of special rehabilitation training.
Götze has scored five goals in 14 Bundesliga matches this season and registered once in four appearances during Germany's UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying campaign. "Mario Götze is an important member of the team, but he is not irreplaceable," said Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp. "Mario is an important player, though. If he is not in good shape, we are not in good shape either."
Götze will miss Germany's friendly against France in Bremen on 29 February.
