Petržela leaves Plzeň for Augsburg

Czech Republic midfielder Milan Petržela has agreed to join German side FC Augsburg from FC Viktoria Plzeň, saying: "It has always been my dream to play in the Bundesliga."

Czech Republic midfielder Milan Petržela has agreed to join German side FC Augsburg from FC Viktoria Plzeň following his return home from UEFA EURO 2012.

The 29-year-old has signed a three-year contract today, and said: "I will never forget Plzeň – there was a great team spirit there – but I have to take the next step in my career. It has always been my dream to play in the Bundesliga."

Capped 13 times, Petržela made a 15-minute cameo appearance in Poland and Ukraine in his side’s 4-1 opening-day defeat against Russia. He is moving abroad for the first time in his career, having helped Plzeň to win their maiden Czech title in 2010/11, and played in all six of their UEFA Champions League group stage games last season.
