TSG 1899 Hoffenheim were the only side to register a win in Germany on Sunday as they picked up a first victory of the season at home to Hannover 96.
Mirko Slomka's Hannover had made an undefeated league start, but Sejad Salihović and Daniel Williams scored late on to secure a 3-1 win for Hoffenheim, who had gone behind midway through the first period when defender Matthieu Delpierre turned into his own net. Fabian Johnson drew things level a minute later with his first goal of the season, before the late strikes earned the hosts their first points this term following three losses.
SV Werder Bremen were left frustrated as they let a two-goal lead slip in the second half of their game against VfB Stuttgart. Kevin De Bruyne and Zlatko Junuzović had fired the home side into a healthy lead at the interval, but Martin Harnik (50) reduced the deficit and Cacau struck in the 81st minute to earn Stuttgart only their second point of the campaign. Both teams ended with ten men as Harnik and Assani Lukimya were dismissed in the closing moments.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen and VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach have both enjoyed mixed starts to the season, with just two wins between them, and they could not be separated at the BayArena. All the crucial action occurred in the opening 12 minutes, with Patrick Herrmann (3) putting the visitors up before Michal Kadlec grabbed the equaliser.
