Dortmund and Bayern maintain Bundesliga pace

Bundesliga pacesetters Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern München won again to stay locked together at the top, while Bayer 04 Leverkusen also picked up three points.

Borussia Dortmund and FC Bayern München continue to set the pace in Germany after both recorded wins on Saturday, while Bayer 04 Leverkusen stayed in touch with three points of their own.

Jürgen Klopp's Dortmund returned to winning ways by crashing five past SC Freiburg. Marco Reus drove the first into the roof of the net from close range on 35 minutes before doubling the lead from the penalty spot after Diagné Fallou saw red for bringing down Robert Lewandowski in the area on the stroke of half-time. The Poland forward struck twice after the break before fellow countryman Jakub Błaszczykowski added the fifth 11 minutes from time.

Things were tougher for Bayern but Thomas Müller's second-half strike earned a 1-0 home win against VfL Wolfsburg, while fellow UEFA Champions League contenders Leverkusen downed Hannover 96 2-0 thanks to goals from Simon Rolfes and Sidney Sam. FC Schalke 04 and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim played out a 3-3 draw, while Hertha BSC Berlin sunk 1. FSV Mainz 05 with Sami Allagui hitting two in a 3-1 win. Elsewhere, Marcell Jansen's 86th-minute goal secured a 2-2 draw for Hamburger SV at Eintracht Frankfurt.
