Bayern hit seven, Leverkusen down Dortmund

Bundesliga leaders FC Bayern München scored seven without reply at SV Werder Bremen, while second-placed Bayer 04 Leverkusen stretched their advantage over Borussia Dortmund.

Franck Ribéry returned with two goals as Bundesliga leaders FC Bayern München scored seven goals without reply at SV Werder Bremen, while Bayer 04 Leverkusen came away from Borussia Dortmund as 1-0 winners.

Assani Lukimya's own goal from a wicked Ribéry cross sent the Bundesliga leaders on their way, and the France winger went on to shine on first league appearance for a month due to injury,. Daniel Van Buyten, Thomas Müller, Mario Mandžukić and Mario Götze goals supplemented two Ribéry strikes, including a breathtaking second where he collected Claudio Pizarro's neat backheel and exchanged passes with David Alaba before finishing.

Second-placed Leverkusen are seven points behind but six clear of Dortmund after Son Heung-Min's goal. Both sides finished with ten men; Leverkusen's Emir Spahić was shown a straight red ten minutes from time, before Sokratis Papastathopoulos received his marching orders after a second yellow card.

The standout result elsewhere was VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach's 2-1 victory against FC Schalke 04, their eighth straight Bundesliga success. Gladbach had to come from behind after Jefferson Farfán's penalty but Raffael's sublime left-footed curler restored parity, and a Max Kruse spot-kick punished Benedikt Höwedes' foul, for which he was dimissed, shortly before half-time.
