Wolfsburg go fifth, Hertha beat Braunschweig

VfL Wolfsburg scored three without reply at SC Freiburg to climb above FC Schalke 04 into fifth, while Hertha BSC Berlin were also comfortable victors on Sunday in the Bundesliga.

VfL Wolfsburg climbed up to fifth with a 3-0 win at struggling SC Freiburg, while Hertha BSC Berlin were also victorious in Sunday's Bundesliga action.

Maximilian Arnold, 19, continued his impressive form with a fifth goal in nine Bundesliga appearances to give Wolfsburg the lead in the eighth minute. The visitors then put themselves firmly in control when Ivica Olić doubled their advantage just three minutes later. Marcel Schäfer put the result beyond doubt in added time to ensure the Wolves continued their rise up the table.

In the day's other game, Hertha earned a second successive away win with a 2-0 triumph at ten-man TSV Eintracht Braunschweig. Nico Schulz struck the post for the visitors on 16 minutes but they only had to wait four more before the breakthrough arrived, Adrián Ramos heading his eighth goal of the season from Ronny's cross. The same man set up the second on 80 minutes as Tolga Cigerci finished off a swift break, before Timo Perthel picked up a second yellow to round off a miserable afternoon for the hosts.
