Bayern secure Lahm and Müller

Philipp Lahm has signed a two-year deal with FC Bayern München that he describes as "my last contract" while Thomas Müller has also committed his future to the club.

Philipp Lahm and Thomas Müller have both committed their futures to FC Bayern München after signing two-year contract extensions.

Captain Lahm, 30, now has a deal running until summer 2018 which he described as "my last contract" while 24-year-old attacker Müller's terms will expire 12 months later. Both are products of the Bayern academy and are currently with Germany at the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.

"Philipp Lahm as well as Thomas Müller are important cornerstones at FC Bayern," said chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge. "Both have been faithful to the club since the beginning of their careers and will play an important part in the future here as well. We are very happy both players have decided to sign long-term contracts with Bayern München. Now I wish Philipp Lahm and Thomas Müller a successful World Cup in Brazil and keep my fingers crossed for them and the German national team on their way to the title."

Lahm, who can play in defence and midfield, made his senior debut in November 2002 in the UEFA Champions League, a trophy he finally won 11 years later along with the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup. Making 533 Bayern first-team appearances, as well as winning 106 Germany caps, he has helped Bayern to six domestic doubles including two in the last two seasons. He also had loan spells at VfB Stuttgart in 2003/04 and 2004/05.

"The club as well as my management basically decided at the same time to enter talks, as the time for an extension seemed right for both sides", said Lahm. "It is definitely my last contract, I will end my career at FC Bayern. This has always been my wish. It makes me very happy."

Müller's debut was in August 2008 but he made his breakthrough during the following campaign, aiding Bayern to the German double and the UEFA Champions League final while also establishing himself in the Germany side that took World Cup bronze. Also a crucial part of Bayern's success over the last two seasons, he has now scored 99 goals for Bayern in 256 outings. He has 49 senior caps.

"I am very happy to have extended my contract with FC Bayern until 2019 right before the World Cup kicks off," he said. "There were very good talks with those responsible at the club which made it clear to me that I am at the right place. I feel an important part of the club's plans. Bayern München have been my club since 2000 and will continue to be so in the coming years."
