Gibraltar FA opens new headquarters

UEFA's newest member national association, the Gibraltar Football Association has opened new headquarters which will serve as a temporary home until 2016.

The Gibraltar Football Association (GFA) has officially opened its new headquarters adjacent to the Victoria Stadium.

Gibraltar's minister for sport, Steven Linares, inaugurated the premises accompanied by the chief executive of the Gibraltar sports and leisure authority, Joe Hernandez, Desmond Reoch, the GFA president, and GFA chief executive Dennis Beiso, as well as other officials from the association.

The new offices will be the Gibraltar FA's home until the new national stadium – Europa Stadium – is completed in 2016. The headquarters contain a boardroom, administrative offices, kit/equipment storage rooms and a lecture room, providing the association with much-needed space in which to work.

Speaking to UEFA.com, Dennis Beiso said: "We identified the need for new premises very soon after becoming full members of UEFA back in May. Since then, we have taken on a number of full-time personnel and realised very quickly that we would need a new home where we could welcome our members and visitors, as well as conduct our day-to-day work in a comfortable environment.

"Of course, we are aware that our new premises are just temporary pending completion of our permanent home at the new Europa Stadium in 2016. That is something we are all very much looking forward to. The government of Gibraltar, and in particular the minister for sport and the Gibraltar sports and leisure authority, have been extremely helpful in allowing us to move into these premises quickly. We are very grateful to them for the assistance they have given us. It seemed perfectly logical that we should move into new premises next to the Victoria Stadium, the current home of Gibraltarian football."

The premises are known as 'The Boathouse' and are centrally located in Gibraltar, situated just a stone's throw from the Victoria Stadium, the sea front and marinas, the airport and the border with Spain.
