Unpaid debts
The Hellenic Football League (EPAE) today imposed a huge points penalty on the Ioannina-based club because of unpaid debts. Giannina will be docked three points for every game played this season until they pay moneys owed to 18 of their former players. Giannina will try to have the decision overturned in the civil courts.

Points deducted
However, if the EPAE ruling stands, Giannina, who are third bottom of the Alpha Ethniki table, will be relegated. Their points total after 25 games is 19 but that tally becomes -56 when the sanction comes into force. If Giannina fail to meet their debts, the EPAE will continue to deduct points from them next season.
