PAOK FC, Panathinaikos FC, AEK Athens FC and Larissa FC will compete for European places in the Greek Super League play-offs after the regular season concluded on Sunday, with Olympiacos CFP long since confirmed champions.
Top scorers
Olympiacos put a seal on their triumphant season with Matt Derbyshire and Luciano Galletti scoring in a 2-0 win at Thrasivoulos Fylis, who have been relegated along with Panserraikos FC and OFI Crete FC. Olympiacos and AEK will also contest the Greek Cup final in Athens on Saturday, boasting the league's top two scorers in 14-goal Galletti and Ismael Blanco. The latter might have taken the title for himself but missed a late penalty in AEK's 1-1 draw at Ergotelis FC.
Star prize
First prize in the play-offs, which kick off on Sunday 10 May, is a place in the 2009/10 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round. The four teams will play each other home and away to decide the final standings, with additional points having been awarded for regular-season finishes. Thus second-placed PAOK start with three points, third-placed Panathinaikos with two and fourth-placed AEK with one while Larissa begin from zero.
