Péter Lipcsei will retire from football this summer having set a new appearance record with Hungary's most successful club Ferencvárosi TC: Tuesday's 2-0 win against Lombard-Pápa TFC was his 647th game for the club.
The midfielder, 38, is in his third spell at Ferencváros having also represented FC Porto and SV Austria Salzburg and broke forward György Sárosi's 59-year-old record having already announced this will be his last season. "Although I'm coming to the end of my career, I'm concentrating on enjoying it and am very happy at the moment," said erstwhile international Lipcsei, who has won four league titles and six Hungarian Cups with 'Fradi'. "I'm proud of what I've achieved at Ferencváros. I know György Sárosi, Flórián Albert, László Bálint, Zoltán Ebedli, Máté Fenyvesi and Gyula Rákosi were much bigger players than me but I'm the one who played the most games."
