Hungarian titleholders Debreceni VSC have appointed Zdeněk Ščasný as their new head coach on a two-year deal.
Ščasný arrives in Budapest with Debrecen fifth in the Hungarian First League – eight points adrift of leaders Videoton FC. The 53-year-old, who guided AC Sparta Praha to two Czech titles in the late 1990s, succeeds András Herczeg at the helm. Ščasný, who won the Czech Cup with FK Viktoria Žižkov in 2001, subsequently took charge of Greek sides OFI Crete FC and Panathinaikos FC before returning to his homeland.
Herczeg had steered Debrecen to successive top-flight crowns prior to this season's downturn, which has also included exiting at the UEFA Europa League group stage having finished bottom of their section.
