The 1. Liga champions took the lead on 29 minutes with a goal from new signing Sándor Torghelle, the Under-21 international striker heading in from a corner. In the second period, another U21 forward, Péter Czvitkovics, made the game safe, doubling the MTK advantage from inside the penalty area.
'Won without playing well'
"I am glad we won this trophy for the first time [in the club's history]," said MTK coach Sándor Egervári. "We didn't play well but we won."
