• Born in the southern city of Beer Sheva, Ofer Eini – a tax advisor – started his public work in the Israeli tax authority, becoming the head of the national tax committee by the age of 29.
• In 1999, he was appointed as head of the state employees' union, part of the general labour federation in Israel, the Histadrut, where in 2004 he became the chairman of the workers' committee.
• In 2006, he became the chairman of the Histadrut, a role he stepped down from in 2013 to become the Israeli Football Association president in 2014. A father of four, Eini said after his election: "I chose to lead Israeli football out of a complete belief in the role football plays within our society, and the national pride that football can bring. I'm positive we can build a plan which will make everybody proud of Israeli football."
