Two goals from Javier Moreno helped Milan AC to a 3-2 victory at S.S. Lazio and a place in the semi-finals of the Coppa Italia following a 5-3 aggregate win.
Extended their advantage
Milan, who triumphed 2-1 in the first leg at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium thanks to goals from Moreno and Marco Simone, extended their aggregate advantage in the fourth minute when José Mari Romero opened the scoring following good work from Serginho.
Paid the price
Simone Inzaghi hauled the Roman side back into the contest in the 23rd minute but Lazio failed to make their possession count and paid the price after the break. Moreno scored his first in the 55th minute from an acute angle and then wrapped up the tie three minutes later following an excellent through-ball from José Mari.
Hernán Crespo salvaged some pride for Lazio with their second goal 15 minutes from time but it is Milan who progress to a likely showdown with Juventus FC. The Turin side are favourites to emerge from their quarter-final tie with Atalanta BC after winning the first leg 4-2.
