AC Milan ended Saturday night at the top of Serie A following a 3-1 victory at home against AC Chievo Verona while AS Roma escaped from the relegation zone with a home win against Genoa CFC.
Pato scored twice in the first half hour for Milan, drilling a splendid right-footed volley past Stefano Sorrentino for the first, before slotting home a second. Zlatan Ibrahimović set up both of those goals, but put through his own net with 20 minutes to go to raise the pulse at the San Siro. However, Robinho finished three minutes into added-time to ensure Massimiliano Allegri's side go into Sunday a point clear of second-ranked S.S. Lazio. Later, Marco Borriello and Matteo Brighi scored in a 2-1 success for Roma, who moved out of the bottom three. Gergely Rudolf's 78th-minute goal for Genoa ensured a nervy finish in the Italian capital.
