Parma FC have chosen former Bologna FC coach Franco Colomba to take Pierpaolo Marino's place at the helm of the Italian club.
The 56-year-old Colomba, surprisingly dismissed by Bologna on the eve of the current campaign, today signed a one-year contract with the Ducali who parted company with Marino on Sunday. Marino paid the price for Parma's 2-1 home defeat by Serie A's bottom club AS Bari.
The new coach, who has led Ascoli Calcio 1898, Hellas Verona FC and Cagliari Calcio among others, will be unveiled later today before directing his first training session. A former Bologna player, he had secured the club's top-flight status last season after being appointed in October 2009.
Parma are sixth from bottom in Serie A, two points above the relegation zone, after taking only seven points from their last ten league games – a situation compounded by the Bari defeat at the weekend.
