Pierpaolo Bisoli has replaced Alberto Malesani as Bologna FC coach.

Malesani parted company with the Felsinei on Wednesday after enduring a torrid end to the season. Tenth at the start of April, Bologna mustered just two points from their final eight Serie A fixtures as they slid to 16th in the standings. Bisoli has been charged with turning things around, the 44-year-old returning to the game after his five-month spell at the Cagliari Calcio helm ended in November.

Bisoli has signed a two-year contract with Bologna, and will hope to rediscover the success that brought him the 2010 Panchina d'Argento (silver bench) award as Serie B's best coach after he steered AC Cesena to top-flight promotion.
