AC Cesena have signed Romania captain Adrian Mutu from ACF Fiorentina for an undisclosed fee.
The 32-year-old forward, who moved to Italy in 1999 when he joined FC Internazionale Milano, has signed a two-year contract with an option for a further season with the club from Romagna. He had joined Fiorentina in 2006 after playing for Hellas-Verona FC, Parma FC, Chelsea FC and Juventus.
"I am looking forward to starting this new adventure," he said. "In recent years Cesena have proved to be a club with clear ideas and the right strength and courage to take them forward. That's why I accepted their offer even though I agreed to a salary cut in order to play here. I believe this club will give me the enthusiasm I was looking for."
The four-time Romanian player of the year has scored three goals in UEFA EURO 2012 qualifying. Romania are fourth in Group D, five points adrift of leaders France.
