Edinson Cavani fired a hat-trick as SSC Napoli defeated AC Milan 3-1 at home to record their second consecutive Serie A win this term.
Impressive in their 1-1 draw at Manchester City FC in midweek, Napoli moved to the top of the pile in Italy thanks to some wonderful finishing from their Uruguayan striker, who volleyed in the leveller just moments after Alberto Aquilani had given Milan an 11th-minute lead. He then curled in a superb second from the left nine minutes before the interval and completed his treble with an instinctive finish six minutes after the break.
Earlier in the day, Juventus and Udinese Calcio also recorded their second league victories of the season, with Juve coach Antonio Conte enjoying a return to the club he guided back to the Italian top flight last term as Alessandro Matri (54) scored the only goal of the game against AC Siena.
Another Italian international, Antonio Di Natale, was on target for the fourth competitive match running as his early penalty helped Udinese on their way to a 2-0 defeat of ACF Fiorentina, who also conceded Mauricio Isla's strike (29). Meanwhile, Maxi López's effort on the stroke of half-time secured a 1-0 triumph for Calcio Catania against AC Cesena.
Elsewhere, Sebastian Giovinco moved joint top of the scorers' charts with his second and third goals of the season in Parma FC's 2-1 defeat of AC Chievo Verona, Genoa CFC came from behind to overcome S.S. Lazio by the same scoreline, and US Lecce and Atalanta BC were 2-0 and 1-0 victors against Bologna FC and US Città di Palermo respectively.
