Ibrahimović double helps Milan up to second

Zlatan Ibrahimović’s impressive recent form continued with two more goals as AC Milan beat AC Chievo Verona 4-0 to climb within a point of Serie A pacesetters Juventus.

AC Milan are just a point shy of Serie A leaders Juventus following a 4-0 victory against AC Chievo Verona.

Juve took sole charge at the head of the table with a 1-0 win against S.S. Lazio on Saturday, but the Rossoneri kept themselves in the mix thanks to an impressive showing at the San Siro. They proved fast starters against Chievo, taking the lead after just eight minutes as Thiago Silva's low shot put them in front.

Zlatan Ibrahimović added a delightful second on 16 minutes, and Pato made it 3-0 just after the half-hour. Ibrahimović completed the scoring with a penalty prior to half-time, the Sweden striker's ninth goal in his last nine club games.

In fifth, three points adrift of fourth-placed Lazio, US Città di Palermo triumphed 2-0 against ACF Fiorentina. The Rosanero's home triumph came courtesy of goals from Fabrizio Miccoli (22) and Josip Iličić (73), with Fiorentina's misery compounded by the 89th-minute dismissal of Cesare Natali.

Milan's city rivals FC Internazionale Milano are up to 15th following their victory at AC Siena, substitute Luc Castaignos scoring the only goal in the penultimate minute. Level on points with Claudio Ranieri's team are Cagliari Calcio, who drew 1-1 with Bolgona FC.

Elsewhere, second-bottom AC Cesena are within two points of safety following a 2-0 home victory against Genoa CFC.
