Milan keep heat on leaders Juventus

AC Milan moved back within a point of Juventus at the Serie A summit via a 3-0 victory against Cagliari Calcio, after FC Internazionale Milano had suffered a shock defeat at US Lecce.

AC Milan overcame Cagliari Calcio 3-0 at San Siro to to return within a point of Serie A leaders Juventus, after FC Internazionale Milano were humbled 1-0 by US Lecce.

Zlatan Ibrahimović broke the deadlock with a magnificent 32nd-minute free-kick for Milan, before Antonio Nocerino doubled the Rossoneri's advantage via a sweetly struck shot from just outside the area. Massimo Ambrosini then completed the scoring 15 minutes from time to mark his 450th appearance in Milan colours.

Lecce ended Inter's run of seven successive league wins thanks to Guillermo Giacomazzi's first-half strike. S.S. Lazio took advantage to move fourth, eight points shy of Juve, with a routine 3-0 win at AC Chievo Verona, thanks in part to Miroslav Klose's tenth and 11th league goals of the season.

AS Roma, meanwhile, were held 1-1 at home to Bologna FC, while Genoa CFC went some way towards amending December's 6-1 loss to SSC Napoli with a 3-2 victory against the Partenopei.

Elsewhere, ACF Fiorentina triumphed 2-1 against AC Siena in the Tuscan derby and Igor Budan scored a goal in each half as US Città di Palermo overcame struggling Novara Calcio. Atalanta BC condemned AC Cesena to their fifth defeat in six, winning 1-0.
