It was a night to forget for AC Milan, who missed out on the chance to go top of Serie A after losing 2-0 at S.S. Lazio, while Diego Milito scored four times as FC Internazionale Milano drew 4-4 with US Città di Palermo.
Lying just a point behind leaders Juventus, whose encounter against Parma FC was postponed on Tuesday, Milan had the chance to take a two-point lead over the Bianconeri, but instead succumbed to their first loss to Lazio since 1998. Hernanes broke the deadlock on 76 minutes before Tommaso Rocchi (85) made sure of the Rossoneri's fourth defeat of the campaign.
Udinese Calcio are just two points behind the Italian champions thanks to a 2-1 home win against US Lecce, who were undone by a second-minute strike by Michele Pazienza, a recent loan arrival from Juventus, and Antonio Di Natale's 15th goal of the campaign.
But the match of the day took place at San Siro, where not even four goals by Milito were enough to earn the Nerazzurri a home win. The hosts twice came back from a goal down, before edging in front, only for Fabrizio Miccoli to complete his hat-trick five minutes from time to earn Palermo a point.
AS Roma also conceded four goals, but lost 4-2 at Cagliari Calcio, for whom Thiago Ribeiro (6, 48), Mauricio Pinilla (41) and Albin Ekdal (90+2) were on target. Their seventh league reverse leaves the Giallorossi five points adrift of Inter, and one ahead of SSC Napoli, whose 0-0 stalemate with AC Cesena was their third draw in five matches. Elsewhere, Atalanta BC-Genoa CFC, Bologna FC-ACF Fiorentina and AC Siena-Calcio Catania were all snowed off.
