Juventus edge ahead of Milan at Serie A summit

Second-half strikes by Leonardo Bonucci and Fabio Quagliarella took unbeaten Juventus top of Serie A after AC Milan suffered a shock home defeat against ACF Fiorentina.

Juventus took full advantage of a surprise home defeat for AC Milan by overcoming US Città di Palermo 2-0 to move top of Serie A.

Second-half goals from Leonardo Bonucci and Fabio Quagliarella earned the unbeaten Bianconeri their 17th league win of the season, which took them a point ahead of Milan, who earlier in the day had succumbed to a late winner by Amauri, the striker ACF Fiorentina have loaned from Juventus.

Massimiliano Allegri's side had looked in control after Zlatan Ibrahimović buried his 11th successful spot kick for the Rossoneri this season. However, the titleholders, who dropped points at Calcio Catania last week before being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League, conceded Stevan Jovetić's equaliser (47) and were stunned by Amauri's sucker punch.

S.S. Lazio responded to fourth-placed Udinese Calcio's 3-1 defeat of Parma FC, with a victory by the same score against SSC Napoli. Stefano Mauri's overhead kick was the pick of the goals as the hosts moved three points above the Friulani. AS Roma's UEFA Champions League prospects suffered a setback, however, as they lost 4-2 at struggling US Lecce.

Elsewhere, there were wins for AC Chievo Verona and AC Siena, while FC Internazionale Milano drew 2-2 at ten-man Cagliari Calcio and AC Cesena and Novara Calcio were held by Bologna FC and Genoa CFC respectively.
