Three goals in the first 19 minutes set Juventus on their way to a 4-1 home victory against AS Roma, on a night when AC Milan were held to a 1-1 draw at Parma FC.
The Bianconeri failed to win for the first time this season at ACF Fiorentina in midweek, but any confidence that 0-0 scoreline had given Roma fans soon evaporated. Andrea Pirlo's quickly-taken free-kick (11) put his side into an early lead and two more goals soon followed.
Arturo Vidal (16) converted a penalty and Alessandro Matri sprang the offside trap and squirmed the ball past Maarten Stekelenberg to round off a dramatic opening to proceedings. Pablo Osvaldo's second-half spot-kick reduced the Giallorossi's arrears, but Sebastian Giovinco gift-wrapped the win for Juventus in the last minute, extending their unbeaten Serie A run to 45 matches.
Milan are nine points behind Juventus after failing to win at Parma in the early fixture. Italian Under-21 international Stephen El Shaarawy gave the Rossoneri the lead with his fourth goal in three games, but Daniele Galloppa cancelled it out with a low drive teed up at a free-kick.
