FC Internazionale Milano, SSC Napoli, AS Roma and SS Lazio were all among the victors on Serie A's first Sunday of the season.
After champions Juventus got their campaign up and running with a win on Saturday, last season's runners-up Napoli were quick to match them with a 3-0 success at home to Bologna FC in Rafael Benítez's first league match in charge. José Callejón put the hosts in front on his Serie A debut before Marek Hamšík doubled the lead from a tight angle just ahead of the break. The Slovakia midfielder then struck again after the interval to seal the win.
Napoli's former coach Walter Mazzarri got off to a winning start with Inter as second-half strikes from Yuto Nagatomo and Rodrigo Palacio made for a 2-0 triumph against Genoa CFC, while Torino FC saw off promoted US Sassuolo Calcio by the same scoreline as Matteo Brighi and Alessio Cerci scored.
In addition, capital duo Lazio and Roma also both started with victories. The Giallorossi prevailed 2-0 at AS Livorno Calcio, while Hernanes' 13th-minute goal and Antonio Candreva's penalty secured a 2-1 success against Udinese Calcio for Lazio. Elsewhere, Cagliari Calcio beat Atalanta BC 2-1 and the match between Parma FC and AC Chievo Verona ended 0-0.
