Roma sink Fiorentina to close on Juventus

AS Roma moved within three points of leaders Juventus with a 2-1 home victory against ACF Fiorentina, while FC Internazionale Milano contested a pulsating 3-3 draw against Parma FC.

AS Roma ended their winless streak in Serie A to close within three points of leaders Juventus courtesy of a 2-1 home victory against ACF Fiorentina.

Still undefeated this season, Rudi Garcia's men had surrendered top spot following a run of four successive draws but registered their first win since October despite ending with ten men. Juan Vargas had cancelled out Maicon's early opener but Mattia Destro tapped in from five metres on 67 minutes and the Giallorossi held on to the points despite losing Miralem Pjanić to a second yellow card late on.

In fourth, FC Internazionale Milano lifted themselves a point clear of the Viola following a rollercoaster 3-3 draw with Parma FC. Rodrigo Palacio twice pulled hosts Inter level and Fredy Guarín gave them the lead on 56 minutes, only for Nicola Sansone to equalise with his second goal of the night moments later.

Elsewhere, Hellas Verona FC moved within two points of Fiorentina as two late goals helped them to a 2-1 success against Atalanta BC, while Torino FC are up to seventh after stretching SS Lazio's winless run to six games thanks to Kamil Glik's strike in a 1-0 win.

As for UC Sampdoria, they beat bottom side Calcio Catania 2-0, and an added-time Marco Sau winner earned Cagliari Calcio a 2-1 home victory against Genoa CFC. Lastly, AC Chievo Verona moved a point above US Sassuolo Calcio into 15th after a 1-0 win against their fellow strugglers.
