Juventus stretched their lead at the head of Serie A as they beat FC Internazionale Milano 3-1 after second-placed AS Roma's fixture was rained off.
After Antonio Conte's side lost their 12-game winning streak with a draw at SS Lazio last time out, the champions returned to winning ways against Inter. Stephan Lichtsteiner headed in Andrea Pirlo's lofted pass 15 minutes in to put the hosts ahead, while Giorgio Chiellini thrashed in two minutes after the restart to double the advantage. Arturo Vidal drove in from close range after Paul Pogba's shot was saved by Samir Handanovič to secure the points, despite Rolando's 71st-minute consolation.
Earlier in the day second-placed Roma missed the chance to put pressure on the leaders when their game against Parma FC was abandoned after eight minutes due to heavy rain. SSC Napoli remain six points back in third after they suffered a chastening 3-0 defeat at Atalanta BC with Germán Denis scoring twice, while Hellas Verona FC moved fifth with a 2-1 win at US Sassuolo Calcio.
Antonio Candreva and Keita Balde Diao were on target as SS Lazio won 2-0 at AC Chievo Verona while Sergio Almirón's 88th-minute equaliser earned bottom-side Calcio Catania a point with a 3-3 draw with AS Livorno Calcio.
