Mauro Icardi scored the winning goal midway through the second half as FC Internazionale Milano earned a surprise 2-1 win at ACF Fiorentina.
This was a meeting of fourth and fifth place, but going into the game the Viola were eight points clear of their opponents, who had lost five successive away games and were beaten 4-1 in the corresponding fixture last season.
After being denied by the upright in the early exchanges, Rodrigo Palacío secured a half-time lead for the Nerazzurri, taking down Fredy Guarín's lofted ball on his chest and prodding it past Neto.
The hosts were back on level terms soon after the restart, though, as Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanović let Juan Cuadrado's curling effort slip through his grasp. The Nerazzurri recovered, substitute Icardi making a decisive impact ten minutes into his first appearance of 2014 as he crashed in Yuto Nagatomo's low cross to send the points back to Milan.
Meanwhile, there was mixed news on the injury front for Fiorentina, who lost Cuadrado to a calf injury shortly after substitute Mario Gomez was handed his first outing since damaging knee ligaments on September.
