Juventus avoided a title hangover by maintaining their 100% home record in Serie A, though they took their time to get the better of Atalanta BC.
Juventus were playing their first game since winning the Serie A title without kicking a ball following AS Roma's defeat at Calcio Catania on Sunday, but visiting goalkeeper Andrea Consigli looked destined to be the star of the show until the 72nd minute, when Simone Padoin hammered a low shot in off the post against his old club. Antonio Conte's side need four more points to reach 100 for the season, with a trip to AS Roma to come before their official title celebrations, scheduled for their final home game – at home against Cagliari Calcio, on 18 May.
Earlier, Stefano Mauri tucked away the loose ball after his added time penalty was saved to earn SS Lazio a 3-3 draw at home against Hellas-Verona FC. Lazio led twice, through Keita Baldé and Senad Lulić, but were pegged back by Marquinho and Juan Iturbe before Rômulo put Verona in front seven minutes from the end. Lulić's subsequent dismissal looked to have ended the contest, only for Michaelangelo Albertazzi's challenge on Miroslav Klose to result in a second red card and the penalty that spared Lazio defeat.
