Modena FC have signed versatile defender Emiliano Moretti on loan from Juventus FC until the end of the season.
The newly promoted side had started the season well but face a difficult period having gained only two points in their last eight matches - a run of form which has left them just four points off the relegation zone in Serie A.
Moretti, an Italian Under-21 international, also had an impressive start to the season when he played eight matches in the domestic league and three in the UEFA Champions League filling in for the injured Gianluca Pessotto at left-back.
However, the defender's chances have been limited by Pessotto's return to full fitness and coach Marcello Lippi's decision to move Italy midfield player Gianluca Zambrotta from the right wing to left-back.
Although just 21, Moretti is playing his third season in Serie A. He joined Juventus last summer as a free agent after the financial collapse of AC Fiorentina. He is the second player to be loaned out by the Bianconeri today after Davide Baiocco joined Piacenza FC until the end of the season.
