Adilbek Jaxybekov will serve a second term as president of the Football Federation of Kazakhstan (KFF) after being re-elected with unanimous support at the association's seventh conference.
Jaxybekov, who had taken the post four years ago with the objectives of combating corruption and match-fixing, received a positive endorsement from KFF delegates for the progress achieved by his administration. Football matches in Kazakhstan have been closely monitored with a number of players and referees being suspended.
The 56-year-old now enters a second four-year term of office, running until at least March 2015 – and immediately set out a new target of bringing more fans to Kazakhstan's football stadiums by raising the profile of the game.
"I thank you for your trust," Jaxybekov told delegates, "but I understand that my position is, among other things, a major responsibility. Much has been done, but equally much has yet to be accomplished. One of our main goals now will be to attract supporters to the stadiums."
