FK Dainava, already consigned to football outside the 1. Lyga next season, dealt FK Zalgiris Vilnius's UEFA Cup hopes a heavy blow by holding them to a 2-2 draw on Saturday.

Late penalty
Zalgiris lay in third place at the start of play, the 35th and penultimate round of the Lituanian first division season due to an inferior goal difference to FK Atlantas. However, a 77th minute penalty from Virginijus Miknevicius for Dainava denied Zalgiris the win they needed to keep up the pressure on the second-placed side.

Zalgiris scare
The league's bottom side rocked Zalgiris early in the game with a 17th minute penalty from Miknevicius. However, Raimondas Vileniskis pulled one back for the visitors three minutes later and Valerijus Mizigurskis extended their lead shortly after the break. With 13 minutes to go, however, Miknevicius' second penalty of the game ensured honours were even.

Atlantas thrashing
Atlantas took advantage of Zalgiris' slip-up to move two points clear of their rivals with a 6-0 thrashing of relegation threatened FK Nevézis. Andrius Zuta scored the only goal of the first half, but in the second the flood gates opened, started by a 57th minute own-goal from Nerijus Krasauskas. Further goals from Arunas Suika, Elnarus Tarvydas and a Martynas Karalius brace completed the win.

Vetra held
FK Vetra were unable to move out of the relegation zone as they were held to a 1-1 draw at FK Inkaras. Inkaras scored the first four minutes before half-time through Saulius Butkus but a Dainius Kruminas strike after 59 minutes levelled the score for Vetra.

Kaunas comfortable
Champions FBK Kaunas retained their 14-point lead at the top with a comfortable 3-1 win at FK Gelezinis-Vilkas. Kaunas took an early lead with an 18th-minute goal from Vitalijus Danilicevas which was cancelled out five minutes later by Nerijus Sasnauskas. However, Darius Sanajevas restored the advantage for the visitors with a goal on the half hour and a Tadas Papeckys goal in the second half wrapped the game up for Kaunas.
