FC Sheriff have won the Moldovan Cup for the seventh time in their history, completing their sixth domestic double since the turn of the millennium with a 2-0 defeat of FC Dacia Chişinău at Zimbru Stadium on Sunday.
The same teams met in last season's final and the outcome this time round was to be identical, with Sheriff scoring in each half. Dacia had looked the stronger side in the opening exchanges, but Sheriff went ahead after 27 minutes when Jymmy França finished from Benjamin Balima's ball, capping a swift counter-attack. With Sheriff's Bulgarian goalkeeper Vladislav Stoyanov given little to do, Jymmy made it 2-0 with a fierce shot after the break as Dacia lost their third final.
Sheriff coach Andrei Sosnitski told UEFA.com: "The opening minutes were a bit nervous but we deserved the win. We proved that we are a strong team who can beat any side in Moldova."
