Under-14s take centre stage in Moldova

The Moldovan Government Cup – which involved 1,627 teams comprising a grand total of 26,575 players – concluded with Congaz's final win followed by an awards ceremony.

The leading secondary school in the town of Congaz won the fifth edition of the Moldovan Government Cup for Under-14 footballers.

In the final played at the Anenii Noi stadium, the Congaz school won 3-2 against the Mihai Eminescu school from the city of Balti. Organised by the ministry of youth and sport, the ministry of education and the Football Association of Moldova (FMF), the tournament featured 1,627 teams composed of a total of 26,575 players.

The awards ceremony that followed Congaz's victory was attended by Moldova's prime minister Vlad Filat, deputy prime minister Ion Negrei, minister for youth and sport Ion Cebanu, interior minister Victor Catan, president of the National Olympic Committee Nicolae Juravschi, and FMF president Pavel Cebanu. Medals, trophies and gifts were handed out to winners, participants and organisers alike.

The players of the tournament were also named: goalkeeper Vitalie Buftea (Balti), defender Mihail Sabie (Congaz), midfielder Gheorghe Borta (Cimislia) and forward Ion Josan (Telenesti).
