Stuttering Sheriff part company with Sosnitski

Following a third successive away loss which leaves them seven points off the pace, champions FC Sheriff have parted company with coach Andrei Sosnitski by mutual consent.

Andrei Sosnitski has left his position as coach of FC Sheriff by mutual consent following a 1-0 loss last week to FC Academia UTM Chisinau.

The defeat, the Moldovan champions' third successive away reverse, dealt a severe blow to Sheriff's hopes of winning the Divizia Nationala for the 11th consecutive season. "The title race is over," conceded Sosnitski after a setback that left his side seven points adrift of leaders FC Dacia Chişinău with five matches remaining. "We could not handle the pressure."

Sosnitski will be replaced until the end of the campaign by fellow Belarusian tactician Vitali Rashkevich, who has been in charge of the reserves for the last five years. "The contract has been ended by mutual agreement," read a club statement. "We want to thank Sosnitski for the years he spent in charge of our team and his contribution to our club's development."

Appointed in January 2010, Sosnitski led Sheriff to the Moldovan league and cup double and into this season's UEFA Europa League group stage.
