FK Makedonija GP Skopje sealed the Macedonian Prva Liga title for the first time in their history thanks to a 1-0 win away at FK Rabotnicki, after FK Renova's 0-0 draw at FK Vardar on Saturday had left the door ajar for them to secure the crown with three games remaining.
Ivanovski winner
Eight points clear going into the weekend, Makedonija Skopje confirmed their first title in fitting fashion with a Mirko Ivanovski strike five minutes from time earning them a victory against the side from whom they take the mantle of champions. The Lions now enter the UEFA Champions League second qualifying round – the first time they will compete in Europe's premier club competition.
European rewards
They also have a chance to complete the domestic double when they meet Rabotnicki in the Cup final on 24 May, with their opponents guaranteed a spot in the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round as a result. Second-placed FK Milano and Renova, both on 49 points, sit nine points clear of the rest of the division and are all but assured of places in the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round.
