Nikola Rakojević has signed a two-year contract as coach of FK Budućnost Podgorica, replacing the duo of Nenad Vukčević and Radislav Dragićević at the capital club.
One of Rakojević's first tasks will be to steer Budućnost through the UEFA Europa League second qualifying round following their second-placed finish last season. Though they came just two points adrift of Montenegrin champions FK Rudar Pljevlja last term, Budućnost have now gone two years without winning a trophy and sporting director Vladimir Bulatović is confident Rakojević can bring about an upturn in fortunes.
"For two years we have failed at every level and it is time for changes," he said. "We want to build up a team which will play together for at least three seasons. We have a lot of talented players in our youth squad, we want to give them a chance at senior level. But results are also very important and we think that Rakojević is able to fulfil both of the club's aims."
