Budućnost celebrate first Montenegrin Cup

FK Budućnost Podgorica "deserved" their 1-0 win against ten-man holders FK Čelik Nikšić in the Montenegrin Cup final, according to victorious coach Radisav Dragićević.

FK Budućnost Podgorica defeated holders FK Čelik Nikšić, who played the last half-hour with ten men, 1-0 to win the Montenegrin Cup for the first time.

The breakthrough eventually came in the first of ten minutes of added time, when defender Mitar Peković scored with a powerful strike from Marko Vukčević's cross.

Budućnost had squandered a chance to take the lead in the 13th minute. Aleksandar Dubljević handled a Flavio Beck Junior shot in the penalty area, but Stefan Mugoša was thwarted from the spot by Zoran Banović.

Things began to unravel for Čelik, who almost 12 months ago to the day became the first lower-league team to win the cup, when Aleksandar Dubljević received his second yellow card.

Budućnost coach Radisav Dragićević said: "We wanted this more than our opponents, played with more passion and we deserved this victory."
