Vučinić vaunted in Montenegro once again

"As always, this is a big honour for me," said Juventus forward Mirko Vučinić after being named Montenegrin player of the year for the seventh time in the past eight seasons.

For the seventh time in eight years, Juventus forward Mirko Vučinić has been named Montenegrin player of the year.

Vučinić was awarded the accolade as a result of a poll of coaches and captains of the 12 Montenegrin First League teams. Vučinić was a regular for the Bianconeri as they retained their Serie A crown last term, scoring ten top-flight goals, including six in 2013.

Though the 30-year-old's 2013/14 campaign has been affected by injuries, he nevertheless claimed the prize ahead of Manchester City FC's Stevan Jovetić and FC Seoul's Dejan Damjanović. "As always, this is a big honour for me,"said Vučinić. "I will enjoy the moment and hope that next year I don't have so many injuries."

FK Čelik Nikšić midfielder Darko Zorić, a Montenegrin Under-21 international, was named best domestic player. "I gave my best in every match for my club and national team, and I am glad that my efforts were recognised," said the 20-year-old.

Dragan Radojičić won the best coach award after guiding FK Sutjeska to last term's title. "I dedicate this award to my players and members of the coaching staff," he said. "Football is about teamwork; without them my work is not worth much."

The Football Federation of Montenegro (FSCG) also traditionally proclaims the nation's brightest talents, with the 2013 award going to FC Twente forward Luka Djordjević, FK Vojvodina Novi Sad midfielder Nebojša Kosović and FK Budućnost Podgorica midfielder Andrija Vukčević.
