The Costa Rica striker buried his first immediately after the interval and added a second just three minutes later from a penalty, Sparta's Milano Koenders having seen red for conceding the spot kick. Ruiz then struck again seconds afterwards as Twente increased the gap to second-placed AFC Ajax, who host FC Groningen on Sunday, with PSV Eindhoven, due to visit VVV Venlo on the same day, another point back.
