Captain Tom van der Leegte scored twice as FC Twente convincingly beat ten-man FC Den Bosch at the Arke Stadium on Friday in front of a bumper 30,000 crowd.
The dismissal of striker Jan Michels for striking Simon Cziommer in the 40th minute with his team one-goal down proved critical as Twente took advantage. Van der Leegte scored the opening goal after just four minutes, easily beating visiting goalkeeper Kris Mampaey with a left-footed shot following a fine a cross by Thijs Houwing.
Denied by the keeper
The Enschede outfit were prevented from extending their lead on two occasions by Mampaey late in the half but they were not to be denied after the interval as they struck three further goals to move above Den Bosch into eleventh spot in the table.
Fine night wrapped up
Midfielder Björn van der Doelen hit Twente's second goal eleven minutes after the break before Van der Leegte made it 3-0 in the 71st minute, again following good work by Houwing. Five minutes later, defender Patrick Pothuizen fired in the fourth to wrap up a fine night for John van't Schip and his side.
