PSV Eindhoven and FC Twente both failed to make a significant gain on the Eredivisie leaders after playing out a goalless draw.
Woodwork in the way
Both sides hit the frame of the goal in the first half with Balázs Dzsudzsák's free-kick for PSV striking the underside of the crossbar and landing on the goalline before bouncing away to safety. Earlier, the visiting side's Austrian striker Marko Arnautovic found himself in space on the right side of the penalty area but his cross-shot rebounded off the far upright. The second period featured fewer close calls and both sides had to settle for a share of the spoils; PSV remain in fourth, eight points behind league pacesetters AZ Alkmaar while Twente are third, four points back.
Lower reaches
Elsewhere in the Netherlands, Heracles Almelo and De Graafschap were also involved in a scoreless draw while BV Vitesse stretched clear of relegation rivals FC Volendam after a 3-1 home win over the basement club and Willem II triumphed 3-2 against Sparta Rotterdam.
