Swedish international defender Mikael Lustig has agreed to join Celtic FC at the start of January on a free transfer from Rosenborg BK.
The 24-year-old right-back or centre-back was out of contract in Trondheim and has agreed a deal running until summer 2015 with the club second in the Scottish Premier League. Lustig will appear only in domestic competition this season for UEFA Europa League contenders Celtic having featured for Rosenborg in their play-off loss to AEK Larnaca FC.
Lustig has 23 caps for Sweden and plays regularly alongside Celtic's Daniel Majstorovic. "This is a really exciting time for me and I am delighted to be committing my future to Celtic," said Lustig, who came to Rosenborg from GIF Sundsvall in January 2008 and has won two Norwegian titles.
I know a lot about Celtic, the size of the club, the world-famous supporters and the quality squad which is already there. I'm really looking forward to joining this squad, to the challenges ahead and hopefully playing my part in bringing success to the club."
Celtic manager Neil Lennon added: "We are delighted to bring Mikael to Celtic. We believe he has the qualities to make a real impact and we look forward to him joining us. He is a player with international pedigree and a defender with great versatility. He is someone who I feel will be a very positive addition. I like his attributes, he can play both positions, but he's predominantly a right-back."
