FC Porto coach Jesualdo Ferreira has announced that he will continue in his role with the Portuguese champions next season after reaching an agreement with the club for a one-year contract extension.
Ferreira revealed that the agreement was reached about a month ago, although he is yet to put pen to paper. "I was invited by the president [Pinto da Costa] and I accepted with pleasure," said the 61-year-old. "We decided to announce it now to end any speculation. I'm happy and I promise a lot of work and dedication." The coach, who had previously led SC Braga into to UEFA Cup for three successive seasons, arrived at the Estádio do Dragão at the beginning of the 2006/07 season after Co Adriaanse's departure and won the Portuguese league title in his first season in charge.
