CFR 1907 Cluj have retained the Romanian Cup by defeating 1. Liga runners-up FC Timişoara 3-0 in Targu Jiu.

First-half display
The deposed league champions, who ended the league campaign fourth, opened the scoring after six minutes when Ciprian Deac headed in a corner. CFR's dominance continued thereafter and they added another just before the half-hour mark thanks to a penalty from Argentinian midfielder Sixto Peralta. Juan Culio put the game beyond Timişoara eight minutes after the break with a low shot from inside the penalty area. The silverware is the second piece won this season by CFR's Romanian international striker Bogdan Mara, who earned a league winners' medal by virtue of his 17 appearances in the first half of the campaign for newly crowned champions AFC Unirea Urziceni.
